Sen. Josh Hawley Takes On The Cultural Marxism Of Transgender Ideology

The latest incident of the growing insanity of transgender ideology happened during a recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the impact of overturning Roe v. Wade when Berkeley law professor Khiara Bridges, accused Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) of being "transphobic" because he does not believe that men can get pregnant.

Bridges repeatedly used the torturous phrase "people with a capacity for pregnancy" as a gender-neutral substitute for "women." When Hawley called her out on it, highlighting the absurdity of erasing the word "women" from a discussion on abortion rights, Bridges told him that his "line of questioning is transphobic."

Bridges said Hawley was "denying that trans people exist" and opening them up to violence because he would not recognize "that men can get pregnant."

As our friends at The Blaze pointed out, the Washington Post said Hawley "refused to acknowledge that some transgender men can get pregnant," which is inaccurate. Hawley never said that "transgender men" can't get pregnant — his position is that "transgender men" are women, because women are the only people who can get pregnant.

Likewise, a CNN video used the headline, "Hawley called out for 'transphobic' questions," which adopted the left's view of the exchange. And Stephen Porter, the assistant editor for USA Today Opinion, urged progressives, "Don't feign ignorance about Sen. Josh Hawley's 'questions.'"

"He was making a statement. His claim? That trans men & nonbinary people who can get pregnant are ~actually~ women. He's asserting that their reproductive organs define their gender," Porter tweeted.

"That's literally ✨transphobic✨," he said.

Responding to the hysterics Wednesday morning, Hawley told Fox News that Democrats "have lost their minds."

"The Democrats have become such extremists. Now their official line is men can get pregnant — and if you disagree, you’re violent," Hawley said. "They have lost their minds and the whole country can see it."

Of course, we know this is all a big game to Democrats, because as Abigail Anthony documented for National Review, in a 2020 law review article related to pregnancy, Prof. Khiara Bridges used the word “woman” 45 times and “women” 349 times.

As Ms. Anthony observed, this is not the first instance in which the definition of “woman” has been a contentious topic during hearings. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R., Tenn.) once asked then-Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson to define the word “woman.” Brown Jackson responded, “I can’t…I’m not a biologist.”

Conservatives and other sensible people generally find themselves befuddled by Democrats torturing the English language with phrases such as, "people with a capacity for pregnancy," but the abuse of language such as this has deep roots in Marxism.

As Walt Heyer explained in a must-read article for the Heritage Foundation’s Daily Signal, It’s Not Just ‘Gender Dysphoria.’ It’s Now ‘Rapid Onset Marxism’, “The goal of social policing of our language is thought control, which epitomizes the Marxist agenda.”

As Mr. Heyer explained, the surge in the number of people expressing gender confusion makes sense when looked at through the lens of Marxism. The rapid onset of gender dysphoria provides cover for the dangerous onset and adoption of radical destructive Marxist ideas.

Marxism, with its guiding principle of abolish and destroy, goes a long way toward explaining today’s strident transgender activism. The forces behind the gender agenda have utilized Marxist techniques of silencing dissenters to coerce conformity from the general population.

Torturing the language in this way makes a mockery of what it means to be a woman, says Heyer. Requiring the other 99.7% of the population to play along denies biological reality and amounts to gaslighting, forcing them to agree that men can become women and vice versa simply by declaring it.

This is consistent with Marxism’s atheistic, soulless ideology, which is fundamentally incompatible with the Judeo-Christian foundations of this nation. It brings “class struggle” from the economic into the cultural sphere by provoking clashes between ideas and people.

Cultural Marxism’s goal is to forcibly overthrow all existing social conditions and to centralize power in the hands of the state. It thrives on “us versus them” divisions, oppressed versus oppressor.

So, when Democrats start demanding that we all acknowledge that men can become pregnant and refusing to define what a woman is conservatives must recognize that this is not merely virtue signaling or pandering to a microdemographic voter cohort, this is cultural Marxism at work and we conservatives must defy it, confront it and destroy it.
