Nationalizing This Election Around Conservative Issues Lifts All Republican Candidates

MEMORANDUM

TO: Key Conservative Leaders

FROM: Richard A. Viguerie

DATE: November 1, 2022

RE: 35th Marketing Memo for Conservative Leaders

SUBJECT: Nationalizing This Election Around Conservative Issues Lifts All Republican Candidates

Republicans never win national elections (presidency, Congress) unless conservatives nationalize and fight the election around conservative issues.

What do I mean by nationalize the elections?

Nationalizing elections means pushing the issues conservatives want the voters to be focused on to the front and center of the campaign. The military leader who selects the place for the battle has a much greater chance of success.

Conservatives need to be fully engaged in helping nationalize the 2022 elections.

Former Democrat Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O’Neill famously said, “All politics is local.” That’s complete nonsense. It’s a Democrat strategy to have Republicans focus on Democrat issues and not national issues, which favor Republicans.

The Democrat Party and Democrat politicians are deliverers of services. “Do you want a bridge or a road? I’ll get right on it. If you need a pothole filled—done. You’re not getting your social security check? I’ll check on it today. Your schools need money for repairs? I’ll take care of it.” And on and on and on it goes.

Democrats want conservatives/Republicans to campaign on local issues. A Republican cannot out promise a Democrat when it comes to spending other people’s money.

At least 75% of the popular hot button issues that voters feel strongly about are conservative issues.

How many breakfasts on the campaign trail ended with voters standing up and demanding we need 87,000 more IRS agents? Voters instead go to candidate events to demand energy independence that will give Americans lower gas and food prices, and to state their opposition to radical policies like partial-birth abortion.

If you’re a Democrat candidate for Congress, which would you rather campaign on: more money for schools, teachers, seniors, roads, bridges, etc.? Or defend against attacks by a conservative Republican who says you want to raise taxes, defund the police, open the southern border, relocate illegals in your community (some with criminal records, COVID, drug dealers, bringing massive amounts of Fentanyl and other illegal drugs which in 2021 killed 110,000 Americans mostly the young), indoctrinate school children in CRT (that America and all whites are racists), that children can change their biological sex, and become homosexuals, etc.?

Democrat politicians dare not tell the voters their true beliefs and agenda, whether they are running for the White House, Congress, governor, city council, school board, etc.

Most of the liberals’ victories in recent decades have come from the courts, not the Congress or state legislatures. That’s why they fought so hard to keep Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett off the Supreme Court.

Remember, I’m not just saying it’s important to nationalize the elections, I’m saying they MUST be nationalized around conservative issues. A strong contrast must be drawn between Republican and Democrat views and values, including their world views.

Example: Democrats say Republicans want to deny women reproductive health care. Republicans, instead of going on the defensive and saying that’s not true, should attack and BRAND their Democrat opponent as an extremist on abortion. Bring up their support for unlimited taxpayer funded abortions, support for partial-birth abortion, opposition to parental notification for teenagers, and voting for legislation to allow abortion up to the moment of birth.

If conservatives don’t push conservative issues in this election, our enemies, not only Democrat politicians but also Big Media and Big Tech who censor conservative issues will make the political campaign about the issues that favor Democrats, such as abortion, the 2020 election, January 6th, etc.

A memorable example is the disastrous loss Republicans suffered in 1964 when the Democrats and most of the national media made the Republican candidate Senator Barry Goldwater into a wild and reckless person who was going to cut Social Security benefits and start a world war.

Again, Republicans took heavy losses in 1974 and 1976 because the Democrats framed the election around Watergate.

But when Ronald Reagan/conservatives framed the 1980 and 1984 presidential elections around conservative issues, including tax cuts, a strong national defense, and traditional values, we scored a big victory.

In the 1994 congressional elections, the Republicans took control of Congress for the first time in 40 years. Congressman Newt Gingrich and his team of mostly younger congressmen framed the campaign around a ten-point contract with America with special emphasis on HillaryCare.

And we all remember the Tea Party elections of 2010 and 2014, when Republicans took back Congress with heavy emphasis on ObamaCare.

By the way, if an election is to be nationalized around conservative issues, it will need to be done by conservatives. Establishment Republicans are uncomfortable campaigning on conservative issues, especially cultural issues—mostly because they are not conservative; they are Big Government Republicans.

Republican consultants are yelling via emails, postal letters, phone calls, fundraising receptions, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners that all it will take to beat the Democrats in 2022 is more money, i.e., “Send my candidate a lot of money to spend on TV and radio where I get a 15% commission.”

As Morton Blackwell says, “Most Republican campaign consultants are content-free.”

How will you know if the campaign is nationalized around our issues?

If a campaign is nationalized around conservative issues, not only will the candidate, their campaign team, and campaign surrogates be stressing conservative issues, but the issues will be front and center on the TV news shows, talk radio, newspapers, magazines, social media (Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, etc.).

In the closing weeks of a campaign, you want the news focused on the Democrats. Remember the old adage about the media, “If it bleeds, it leads.” In the last weeks of a political campaign the candidate that’s dominant in the news because of a mistake, a scandal, something they said or did, etc. probably loses.

Remember how in the closing weeks of the November 2021 Virginia governor’s race, the Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe in a debate said, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” McAuliffe and his statement dominated the news until election day when throughout Virginia Democrats unexpectedly took heavy losses.

And this is a job not just for conservative candidates and national conservatives but all conservatives, whether you operate at the national, state, or local level. All who communicate with others, whether via TV, radio, blog, podcast, newsletter, articles, Facebook, Tweet, post on YouTube, Snapchat etc. need to continually get conservative news and information to your audience and their family, friends, co-workers, fellow church members, etc. You’re needed to help nationalize the 2022 elections.

IT’S PAUL REVERE TIME, FOLKS. In the coming weeks every conservative needs to be a modern-day Paul Revere—alerting others about the dangers America faces from Democrats.

Don’t wait for orders from Tucker, Jesse, Ingraham, Hannity, Levin, conservative leaders, or GOP politicians. Rush to the sound of the battle.

You know what you can do, so please start today. Each of us has different talents and resources available to us—use them.

Most of America’s problems are crises because of the policies, programs, and actions of Democrats.

BECOME A MODERN-DAY PAUL REVERE—TELLING VOTERS . . .

Democrats opened the southern border in January 2021, encouraging millions of illegal aliens to flood into our neighborhoods, towns, and cities. Many are bringing COVID and crime to our communities. Democrats are anxious to have them become citizens and voters (or maybe not even bother with the citizen part).

Police departments are having their budgets cut, police are retiring early, and morale is at an all-time low because the Democrats attack on police, defunding the police activities, and attacks on the character of the police are causing crime to soar, especially murders.

Big city Democrat prosecutors are refusing to prosecute and/or jail criminals. They are turning murderers and other hardened career criminals loose into our communities.

Democrats hate our system of government and want to abolish our Constitution and turn America into a one-party elite socialist/Marxist country.

Democrats want to change election laws, including stop cleaning voter rolls of people who have moved or are deceased, abolish any requirement for voter identification, let 16-year-olds and illegals vote, so that only they can win elections.

Inflation is out of control because the Democrats are pouring trillions of dollars into the economy to buy votes, which drives up the cost of most everything.

Democrat educators (unions, school boards, teachers) are bringing sexually explicit books into classrooms, sexualizing our young children, including encouraging them to consider changing their biological gender, and teaching all children that if you’re white, you’re a racist, and minorities are victims of white’s domination and racism.

Democrat Joe Biden’s Justice Department under the leadership of Merrick Garland, has declared parents that express their disagreement with school boards as domestic terrorist and are investigated by the FBI.

For conservatives to BRAND the Democrats and to have a big victory in 2022 and far beyond, we must tie the Democrat Party and Democrat candidates to the crises in America, including all of the issues listed above, plus dozens of others. Remember, if conservative leaders, such as you do your part, we’ll successfully BRAND the Democrats as the party of open-borders, anti-police, high crime, sky high gas prices, indoctrination of school children, etc., etc. Thereby continuing to win elections until Democrats abandon their socialist/Marxist views.
