Michigan Conservatives In Existential Battle For Liberty

Michigan State Representative Matt Maddock and a growing list of Michigan legislators,

including Reps. Daire Rendon, Beau LaFave, Ryan Berman, Shane Hernandez, Dan Lauwers and Lana Theis are calling for immediate hearings to consider the impeachment of Michigan's Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

In a lengthy post on Parler, Rep. Maddock wrote:

Michigan voters know she has committed the following impeachable conduct:
Ignored court orders.
Violated our Constitutional rights.
Completely ignored due process and the legislature.
Weaponized contract tracing databases to aid democrat campaigns.
Using our kids as political pawns and denied special needs students who depend on the services that occur during in-person classes. Caused the unnecessary death of thousands of our vulnerable elderly who died alone and scared in nursing homes.
I’ve listed the first things that come to my mind. What did I miss?

Whitmer’s office responded by attacking Rep. Maddock for, of all things, not wearing a mask:

“Governor Whitmer doesn’t have any time for partisan politics or people who don’t wear masks, don’t believe in science, and don’t have a plan to fight this virus. Right now, she is focused on saving lives. The governor will continue to work hard for all 10 million Michiganders. This is about Michigan vs. COVID-19. Governor Whitmer doesn’t care if you’re a Trump Republican or a Biden Democrat. We are all in this together.”

As John Hawkins, writing for DanBongino.com observed, “You’ve got to love the ‘Accept my fascist control over your life or you don’t believe in science’ approach of Whitmer’s statement. The only good part of it is that with her personality, she’s certainly not going to be able to charm her way out of impeachment.”

Rep. Maddock and Mr. Hawkins are right on both counts, like Sen. Kamala Harris, Gov. Whitmer reminds us of Hillary Clinton without the charm and with all of Mrs. Clinton’s authoritarian impulses.

And just in time for Thanksgiving and the start of Advent, Gov. Whitmer acted on those impulses and announced a new set of 14 anti-constitutional restrictions on residents of the Great Lakes state. Starting Wednesday, Nov. 18 through Dec. 8 Whitmer claims that under her authority:

  1. High school classes must now be conducted remotely.

  2. College classes must now be conducted remotely.

  3. Work must be done remotely, unless the job absolutely has to be done in person.

  4. Indoor dining is no longer allowed at bars and restaurants.

  5. Organized sports are no longer permitted, with the exception of professional sports and a select number of NCAA sports.

  6. Group fitness classes are no longer allowed.

  7. Theaters and movie theaters must close.

  8. Stadiums and arenas must close.

  9. Bowling alleys will be closed.

  10. Ice skating rinks will be closed.

  11. Indoor water parks will be closed.

  12. Bingo halls will be closed.

  13. Casinos will be closed.

  14. Arcades will be closed.

The only science behind Whitmer’s draconian anti-constitutional closure orders appears to be the “Golden Rule” of politics – whoever has the most gold, and the best lobbyists, gets to make the rules; so big money sports, like NBA, NFL and NCAA sports are OK, but your local independent gym has to close and will be driven out of business.

It is clear that Michigan’s conservative citizens and state legislators are in an existential fight for constitutional liberty, with the potential impeachment of Gov. Whitmer as merely the first round in a political battle that will carry straight through to the 2022 election.

We urge Michigan’s pro-constitution citizens to study what happened in the 2020 election and start building out the people, tools and legal strategies necessary to defeat Gov. Whitmer at the polls should impeachment fail to remove her from office before the 2022 election.
