For nearly 150 years the American Library Association has played a major role in the childhoods and education of millions of Americans. But although historically their influence has been largely positive, an essential investigation by our friends at the American
Accountability Foundation has revealed that ALA have now mobilized their massive power for the purposes of sexualizing and indoctrinating our children.
Starting from their leadership, AAF’s report reveals a clear woke agenda. ALA’s president, Emily Drabinski, described herself as a “Marxist lesbian.” She believes in “collective power,” that “The problem is profit,” and specified in one interview that bringing “awareness to LGBTQ+ library issues” is a main focus of her agenda.
In addition, George Soros' Open Society Institute gave the ALA a $350,000 grant in 2008, and in 1997 the ALA awarded George Soros its James Madison Award.
ALA’s sexualization agenda includes “drag queen story hour” for small children. Back in 2018, ALA's Public Programs Office hosted an interview where they provided insights into a "Drag Queen Story Hour" event, specifically targeting children aged 4 to 8.
The setup was a typical story time arrangement, with tables at the back for crafting star wands and an open floor in front, where the performer, “Ms. Sunbeam,” interacted with the children.
In another interview with ALA’s Office of Intellectual Freedom, drag queens named “Muffy,” “Alexis,” and “Abhijeet” candidly discussed their involvement in Drag Queen Story Hour. “Alexis” proclaimed that it’s important that “the children are able to see themselves represented” at Drag Queen Story Hour events, and “Abhijeet” likened drag queens to superheroes. “Abhijeet” also claimed that “seeing a seven foot glamazon crouch down” will offer kids “a sense of safety.”
As parents across the country demand that sexually explicit books – what are essentially pornographic materials with woke lessons – be removed from children’s libraries, the ALA has taken a position firmly on the side of the pornography. The ALA Office of Intellectual Freedom includes a page titled "About Banned & Challenged Books" on their website. On this page, the ALA condemns protecting children by removing these sexually explicit books from kids’ libraries as violating the First Amendment.
The ALA publishes several “Inclusive Booklists” on their website, covering a wide range of topics, including “diverse families,” Black Lives Matter (BLM), transgender, nonbinary, and LGBTQ+ representation. The “Over the Rainbow Booklist” includes “LGBTQIA+ literature intended for readers from birth to age 18” and is supposed to “assist librarians, educators, parents, and others to ensure that everyone from babies and children to tweens and teens have access to selecting quality books with significant content regarding inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and all that extends throughout the Rainbow spectrum.”
With events such as “September: Banned Books Week,” “October: LGBT History Month and National Coming Out Day,” “November: Transgender Awareness Week and Transgender Day of Remembrance,” it is clear that ALA has an agenda beyond education. They seek indoctrination. Perhaps worse, they are pushing the sexualization of our children, with zero regard for their innocence.
But it’s not just sexual issues that makes the ALA so concerning. ALA fiercely defended Critical Race Theory, the perverse Marxism-inspired doctrine based on the absurd notion that racism is embedded and omnipresent in American society, in September 2020 when the Trump Administration issued its “Executive Order On Combating Race And Sex Stereotyping,” a measure aimed at curbing consideration of concepts like Critical Race Theory (CRT) and so-called “white privilege.” Critical Race Theory’s obsession with defining human beings by their race and condemning white people is diametrically opposed to what this nation stands for, and many parents consider it abusive to impose this ideology on children.
As the vast majority of Americans agree, schools and libraries should be child-friendly places free of politics, ideology, and certainly sex. But the ALA clearly do not agree.
