Biden's War On Dissent Nothing New For Democrats

Conservatives and other defenders of the First Amendment have been shocked by the Biden

regime’s relentless war on political dissent which has seen practically every organized opponent of the regime’s policies labeled a “domestic terrorist” by some Democrat government official or politician.

And this labeling is strictly a one-way street, with the Capitol riot being classed as “domestic terrorism” by the FBI’s do-nothing Director Christopher Wray, while his presumptive Boss, Judge Merrick Garland, Biden’s nominee for Attorney General, gave the Far Left terrorists of ANTIFA and BLM a pass at his confirmation hearing.

But conservatives have had plenty of warning that this is how Democrats roll, going back at least to the Bill Clinton administration.

Too many have apparently forgotten that Clinton’s Attorney General, Janet Reno, used the FBI to conduct a vigorous, politically corrupt campaign against peaceful right-to-life groups.

Thanks to digging by Judicial Watch, the New York Post was able to report back in July of 2000 that, “For nearly two years, Janet Reno’s Justice Department pressured the FBI to collect information on and monitor the activities of peaceful pro-life organizations and individuals – including the Catholic bishops and the late John Cardinal O’Connor.”

A tipster complained to Judicial Watch that agents were being goaded against their will by the Justice Department to look into pro-life groups with no known history of anti-abortion violence, or connection to clinic attackers.

When asked if the allegations were true, an independent FBI source contacted by The New York Post said: “What do you think? This is a highly political, highly corrupt administration.”

According to the New York Post reporting:

The investigation, titled VAAPCON (for Violence Against Abortion Providers Conspiracy), was ordered after the 1994 passage of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.

The Justice Department wanted to snare pro-life extremists attacking abortion clinics and providers, and was hoping to prove a national criminal conspiracy.

After several months monitoring pro-lifers’ mail, phone calls and activities and failing to find a plot, the FBI wanted to drop it.

But Justice Department officials insisted they keep going. VAAPCON dragged on another year, ending after 16 months with no conspiracy detected.

According to sources and published reports, numerous FBI agents felt that abortion-rights supporters in the attorney general’s office crossed an ethical line out of eagerness to damage the pro-life movement.

“The [FBI] people who were running the abortion investigations were very solid and thoroughly disgusted by efforts to use the agency this way,” The Post source said.

“They wanted to go after pro-life groups as domestic terrorist organizations. The bureau resisted,” said the source. “That’s the way they look at the world: Anybody who opposes us is a potential domestic terrorist.”

Nine years later, and just a few months into the next Democrat administration of Barack Obama, Democrats were up to the same tricks, only this time it was the Department of Homeland Security, headed by Janet Napolitano, that was the lead agency in their war on dissent.

In a report titled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” the Department admitted that “The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues…”

The report defined “rightwing terrorists” as being “those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”

So, those nuns and ladies you see crying and praying outside abortion clinics are, according to Democrats, domestic terrorists.

Likewise, according to Democrats’ domestic terrorism report, the workforce at Disney who complained they had to train their foreign “guest worker” replacements are domestic terrorists, as are the returning veterans who complained they could not find a job due to the influx of low wage foreign workers.

One of the most interesting things about those Clinton-era and Obama-era domestic terrorism reports was their ready acknowledgment that it was their own policies that were stimulating the dissent that they claimed was a threat; open borders, job-killing energy, tax and employment policies, the murder of millions of unborn children, were but a few of the more obvious drivers of conservative dissent they acknowledged.

Back in the 1990s and 2000 whether their investigations of domestic dissent were based on a total lack of awareness of how unpopular their policies were or were a cynical ploy to justify a crackdown on their conservative opponents was open to debate. However, today it looks certain to us that Democrats have completely abandoned the First Amendment and are starting an open war on anyone, no matter how peaceful they may be, who dissents from their Far Left policies.

Call the toll-free Capitol Switchboard (1-866-220-0044), tell your Representative and Senators that the Constitution is the law that governs government, and they must demand the Biden administration respect the constitutional rights of every American, especially those, like us, who dissent from its Far Left policies.
