America’s Corporate Enemy #2 Facebook

Updated: Apr 19, 2021

A good argument could be made that no institution in America has done more to destroy free speech and the free expression of ideas than has the Facebook social media company.

And a similar argument could be made that no corporate oligarch did more to undermine the integrity of the 2020 election than Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, put at least $400 million into swinging key states to Biden by funding local election operations targeting Biden voters in so-called purple states, such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin. And they did it not by running ads or traditional political communications but by funding the operations of local supervisors of elections.

Rather they did it by funneling the money through their foundation and the Chicago-based Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL). Although it claims to be non-partisan the CTCL was founded by former staffers of a Democratic technology firm, and most of its operations are conducted with the intent of driving up Democrat turnout.

What’s more, David Plouffe, who served as Barack Obama's 2008 campaign manager, is a long-time Democratic political consultant and served as a board member and strategist for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Mr. Zuckerberg's charitable organization. Mr. Plouffe also wrote the best-selling book, A Citizen's Guide to Beating Donald Trump.

Though they profess to be nonpartisan in their management of CTCL and the Zuckerberg funds, CTCL's three leaders – Tiana Epps-Johnson, Whitney May, and Donny Bridges – all worked for a stridently progressive organization, the New Organizing Institute, before joining CTCL. Executive Director Epps-Johnson also had a Fellowship with former President Obama's Foundation.

Using CTCL funds Democrat elections officials funded drive-in voting centers, un-monitored and un-secured ballot drop boxes and other hitherto unknown, and in many cases illegal, voting operations in heavily Democrat areas, such as Philadelphia, Detroit, Maricopa County Arizona and Atlanta.

At the time Phill Kline of the Thomas More Society's Amistad Project in a statement called the donations “an insidious, coordinated, and stealth campaign to manipulate this year’s elections.”

A study by the Amistad Project has identified CTCL's 20 largest publicly identified donations which total $76.5 million. All these funds went to areas that Hillary Clinton won in 2016. In fact, in these 20 areas Hillary Clinton cumulatively had 66.7% of the vote compared with Donald Trump's 28.5%. In addition, large amounts of these grants go to Democratic areas in the swing states of Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

"CTCL, and municipal officials that are constitutionally-bound to manage elections under the auspices of state election offices and taxpayer funding, have an ethical duty to be fully transparent. The deliberate practice of hiding large amounts of private donations from Mr. Zuckerberg to fund a public function and distribute funds to favor select demographic areas over others in swing states is a direct violation of equal protection under the law," said Kline.

But if the practical effect of Zuckerberg and Chan’s donations to the CTCL was to help defeat Donald Trump’s bid for a second term, the subsequent actions of the Facebook company have been even more damaging to the cause of constitutional liberty and the principles of the American founding.

On January 7, 2021 Facebook said it would block then-President Trump on its platforms at least until the end of his term – a ban that was later extended and now includes a prohibition on even presenting Mr. Trump’s “voice” through links, videos or posted articles.

And the ban remains in place to this day and has been enforced with great vigor.

But censorship of President Trump is not the only political position Facebook has used its power to advance.

Facebook banned two of the Susan B. Anthony List’s ads exposing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s support for late-term abortion in the key battleground states of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. And right before the 2020 election Facebook restricted Choose Life Marketing’s account citing a violation of Facebook’s advertising policies. As the Susan B. Anthony List reported in a blog post, Choose Life could find no policies that they had violated and submitted a request to have their account reviewed. They received a notice, with no explanation for the restrictions, saying that it could take weeks for them to receive an answer, thus pushing the ban well past Election Day 2020.

And Facebook censored LifeNews, labeling as “False Information” their tweet about Kamala Harris’ persecution of pro-lifers who exposed Planned Parenthood selling baby parts, and “significantly reducing” the number of people who could see the post.

Zuckerberg is also a major funder and principal spokesman for FWD.us, a pro-amnesty, pro-foreign labor organization. Silicon Valley tech firms like Facebook, Google, and Microsoft import tens of thousands of foreign guest workers through the H-1B to take American jobs. The firms also lobbied through FWD.us to stop all funding and infrastructure plans for Trump’s border wall along the U.S.-Mexico Border.

The Facebook ban on President Trump and other conservative content, the company’s support for open borders and opposition to restrictions on abortion and support for other radical Leftwing causes and policies demonstrates that, like the Coca-Cola Company, Facebook is not – if it ever was – a for-profit company dedicated to maximizing shareholder value. What becomes clear as you read the biographies, political background and views of Facebook’s directors is that Mark Zuckerberg did not found a communications, entertainment or social media company – he founded a political institution with the political goal of remaking American political, cultural and economic institutions.

On February 1, 2021 TekDeeps.com published a short and little-noticed expose “Facebook: We share Joe Biden’s political goals” that explained what Facebook is really all about:

Facebook’s values and priorities are in line with the policies that US new President Joe Biden is now pursuing, including more immigration.

This is explained by Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg in one leaked recording which Project Veritas has come across.

– President Biden has already issued a number of presidential orders in areas that we as a company feel strongly about, he says.

Areas such as immigration, the preservation of DACA [arbetstillstånd till illegala invandrare, vår anm], the end of restrictions on travel from Muslim countries, the climate and the promotion of racial justice.

– These are positive and important steps. I look forward to working with the new administration, he continues.

Zuckerberg explaining also that Facebook’s new mission is to shift the focus from connecting families and friends with each other, to bringing its users together with groups that “develop our values”. This is to be able to “rebuild the social structure in our country and around the world”, he says during the conversation.

Note: This article has been translated from the Swedish content on Fria Tider www.friatider.se.

As Bryce Asberg concluded in a 2020 article for the Hillsdale College Collegian, “Corporate activism is particularly dangerous because it is so subtle. Few Americans know the decisions that go on in corporate boardrooms and shareholder meetings. You would think major media outlets would care about this way that democracy is dying in darkness, but so far they have had little to say. Perhaps any method, no matter how undemocratic, is acceptable if it can be used to advance progressive policy goals.”

We urge CHQ readers and friends to call and write the Directors of Facebook to tell them you are on to their game and that if Facebook continues to engage in Leftwing corporate activism you will leave the platform for one where conservative values and American exceptionalism are welcome.
