The Right Resistance: Would Trump endorsements help end 81-year-old Nancy Pelosi’s career?

Happy Birthday, Nancy Pelosi!

Most people probably didn’t realize it, but today is our Speaker of the House’s 81st annual commemoration of her existence. Just think, the leftist San Francisco nutjob has occupied space on top of this rotating ball of soil, rock and water for 81 years now. Born in 1940 to a privileged political family in Baltimore, Maryland, (her father was a U.S. Representative from there as well as mayor of the city a few years later, so no wonder the place looks like a Hollywood movie set chock full of abandoned brownstones and weeds growing in parking lot cracks today), Pelosi’s lived a distinguished life!

Logically speaking, San Fran Nan, as she’s affectionately called by some, has been protected against deadly solar rays by the earth’s rapidly changing climate and failing atmosphere for every moment of her lengthy existence. The grandmother and longtime pol has also been sheltered by the United States’ laws and best-in-the-world military, allowing her, somewhat through marriage, to accumulate a large fortune from which she purchased $20,000 freezers to chill her gourmet ice cream as well as to own a Napa Valley winery. As if that weren’t great enough, she can fly back and forth to her home on the taxpayers’ dime whenever she feels like it!

Needless to say, octogenarian and then some Nancy feels emboldened to play by her own rules and get her hair done whenever she senses the need, China virus restrictions be damned!

Over the course of the next year-and-a-half-and-change, the poohbahs of the Republican Party will do their very best to ensure that the then 82-year-old speaker will contemplate retirement after she loses her majority -- and the gavel -- for the second time in two decades. Seriously, does anyone think a person with an ego the size of the solar system like Nancy Pelosi would settle for serving out her days as minority leader, or, gulp, a run-of-the-mill member schlep? No more press conferences with herself as the star?

Not likely. But Republicans have to win first. Towards that end, South Carolina Senator and good friend of former President Donald Trump offered advice to the Florida-based ex-prez on that subject. Stay out of primaries? What say ye, Lindsey?

Jack Phillips reported at The Epoch Times:

“Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday said that former President Donald Trump should not make endorsements in Missouri and Alabama after two GOP senators (Sens. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) and Roy Blunt (R-Mo.)) announced they would retire soon.

“’I think he should just let it play out, if I were him,’ Graham told reporters, referring to the former commander-in-chief. ‘I just think you want to just make sure some of your best candidates emerge.’...

“’I said you’re the leader of the party, whether we win or not, and 2022 matters to you. If we come back, you’ll get your fair share of credit,’ Graham said, referring to a conversation he had with Trump over the weekend.”

For what it’s worth, Phillips additionally reported that Alabama conservative Mo Brooks is running for Shelby’s seat and scandal-besieged former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens will be vying for Blunt’s. Each is considered outside the establishment and would constitute a marked change from Shelby and Blunt, since both senators are charter members of the upper chamber’s good ‘ol boys swamp club, even if they are Republicans.

As far as staying out of senate primaries, presumably Graham holds the same opinion for Trump’s potential delving into House contests. Does Lindsey really believe Trump shouldn’t endorse an opponent to Wyoming’s Liz Cheney, who basically led a small contingent of RINOs to vote to impeach him? That would be illogical, but Graham’s point is well taken, even if most conservatives wouldn’t go along with it.

The primary voters should choose between the candidates. If only it were so simple.

Will the establishment (a.k.a. #NeverTrumpers) similarly refrain from poking their noses into state and local party business and stay apart from primaries too? Here’s thinking they won’t, especially since Mitch McConnell’s already indicated he intends to be very active in making sure the party selects candidates who can “win.” Considering the longtime senate Republican leader doesn’t have the greatest track record on the matter, there’s no telling what he’ll be doing behind the scenes.

Trump, on the other hand, has the loyal backing of the conservative grassroots and the biggest megaphone to make a difference in what promises to be earnestly fought and close races. Inspired by the awful Joe Biden administration and the heinous overstepping Democrat congressional leaders, there should be no shortage of good principled conservatives running to contest RINO incumbents and to fill open seats. Trump himself proved the GOP benefits from an infusion of new blood, so whatever he does in terms of endorsements will be taken seriously.

A congressional kingmaker? Perhaps. Most observers think Trump’s word -- and actions -- will be most closely followed in the upcoming 2024 GOP presidential race. With large majorities of Republicans still approving of him, everyone awaits his decision on whether to try again. Heck, even RINO Mitt Romney supposed if Trump ran, he’d win in a landslide.

The most obvious middle way is for Trump to pick and choose who receives his endorsement. He wouldn’t advance himself, the candidate or the party by selecting from a large but random herd of ambitious would-be pols and merely hoping to find the best one dedicated to his MAGA mission. While it’s true Trump has enjoyed great success with endorsements -- and eliminated enemies along the way -- compiling a losing record on certain crucial races could spell disaster for his reputation.

Just because a candidate is a vocal, outspoken Trump supporter doesn’t mean he or she would be a good campaigner. There’s only one Donald Trump. He shouldn’t “reach” to find another one in every corner of the country.

The Democrats don’t worry about Biden interference in primaries or nominations as much as they do about the more important (to them) factors like race, sexuality, gender preference and ancestral national origin. In the you-can’t-make-this-stuff-up category comes news that two Democrat senators -- Hawaii’s Mazie Hirono and Illinois’s Tammy Duckworth -- informed the White House that they won’t vote “yes” on nominees who aren’t “diverse.” You heard it right -- if you’re white and straight and seem to be okay with your genitals the way they were when you were born, forget it!

No cushy patronage position or judgeship for you, whitey! Even if you’re a chick! (How about Elizabeth Warren or Amy Klobuchar…or birthday girl Nancy Pelosi?)

According to the Washington Examiner’s Byron York, Duckworth quickly took it back. “She did so after the White House promised to appoint a ‘senior level Asian-American Pacific Islander liaison,’ according to spokeswoman Jen Psaki, ‘who will ensure the community's voice is further represented and heard.’”

Imagine meeting with the “liaison.” What do you ask the person? What if it’s Duckworth or Hirono being consulted on “Asian” potential appointees? Do they get veto power?

Electing Democrats at any level brings its own set of bugaboos. With their racism and prejudice no longer masked, it’s only a matter of time before there’s open (rhetorical) combat between the party’s different ethnic factions. For this, they have Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and other leaders to blame. Enjoy your big day, Nancy! Do you have a pre-approved birthday cake baked by a minority or LBGTQ member or illegal alien?
