Tell Congress: Stop The Real Invasion At The Southern Border
The Trump-era program that kept illegal aliens in Mexico, Title 42, was set to expire yesterday, but Chief Justice John Roberts temporarily halted its end, and the Biden administration later asked the Supreme Court to keep it in place until December 27. The
Supreme Court has yet to respond, reported the UK’s Daily Mail.
Title 42 which was invoked by then-President Donald Trump in 2020 during the pandemic, allows officers to easily turn asylum seekers away at the Southern border. If it ends, the government will revert back to more lax immigration laws.
Sara Carter reported the Supreme Court order came after Arizona filed an emergency appeal on Monday asking the Supreme Court to halt its expiration. Justice Roberts gave the Department of Justice until Tuesday evening at 5:00pm to file a response to the states petitioning to maintain Title 42.
The states petitioning were Arizona, Louisiana, Missouri, Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Arizona attorney general Mark Brnovich wrote the request on behalf of the states.
The Department of Homeland Security has requested an additional $3 billion to deal with the impending onslaught of migrants - on top of the $56.7 billion President Biden requested to be included in the fiscal year 2023 spending bill Congress is currently negotiating for the department (DHS).
The Daily Mail reported more than 400 National Guard troops were deployed on Tuesday before the policy's expected end, causing dozens more asylum seekers to make a break for the border to avoid clashes with the military.
Sara Carter reported border officials estimate nearly 50,000 migrants are walking to cross into the country. Foreign Desk News reports that in a detailed seven-page assessment, “the department reported faster processing for migrants in custody at the border, more temporary dentition tents, staffing surges, and increased criminal prosecutions of smugglers, noting that they are working on a plan that will be announced in spring.”
U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, confirmed that Customs and Border Protection officials also told him Wednesday that about 50,000 migrants are believed to be waiting to cross once Title 42 is lifted.
“The seven-page document included no structural changes amid the large numbers of migrants entering the country, with more expected following the end of Title 42 authority” adds FDN. A federal judge in Washington ordered Title 42 to end in late December, but Republican-led states asked an appeals court to keep the law in place. The Biden administration has challenged some aspects of the ruling.
Lawmakers and administration officials say they expect the first week after the end of Title 42 to be chaotic, given the numerous issues regarding migrant processing. In the latest assessment, Customs and Border Protection said government agencies have “been managing levels well beyond the capacity for which their infrastructure was designed and resourced, meaning additional increases will create further pressure and potential overcrowding in specific locations along the border.”
Sara Carter reported DHS did not indicate how many migrants may cross into the homeland when Title 42 ends, but earlier this year, officials expected as many as 18,000 a day. In May, border officials stopped migrants an average of 7,800 times a day.
In the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, migrants were stopped 2.38 million times, up 37% from 1.73 million times the year before. The annual total surpassed 2 million for the first time.
Discussing the question ‘have terrorists entered America through the Southern border?’ Sara Carter states part of her reasoning for starting the ‘Dark Wars’ podcast was to expose what is happening.
“We have adversaries taking advantage of the chaos at the border” Carter explains as to how criminals, drug cartel and terrorists are able to enter. Additionally, a lot of the people crossing are due to human traffickers “pushing and pushing more people across the border for economic purposes into the United States.”
Carter adds the shocking report that the United Nations “says it is the most dangerous land crossing in the world.”
It is folly to think that 400 National Guard troops standing by at the border will deter 50,000 determined invaders to illegally cross the border – and it is folly to think that among them won’t be terrorists, spies and criminals.
Title 42 is a weak stopgap measure. We urge CHQ readers to pick-up the phone to call their Representative and Senators (the Capitol Switchboard number is 202-224-3121) to melt the phone lines to Capitol Hill with this simple message: Stop the invasion – close the border NOW!
