Social media platforms, such as Parler, that do not censor conservative content saw a surge
in users after President Donald Trump and many high visibility conservative accounts, such as Sidney Powell and General Mike Flynn, were banned from Twitter, Facebook and other large Leftwing social media networks.
However, merely banning Donald Trump wasn’t good enough – even as users were rushing to other platforms the open platforms are seeing access throttled by the app marketplaces of tech’s biggest players.
Parler, which bills itself as “the world's town square” was one site where users could speak freely and “express yourself openly, without fear of being “deplatformed” for your views. Engage with real people, not bots. Parler is people and privacy-focused, and gives you the tools you need to curate your Parler experience.”
Naturally, this earned Parler an attack from the Leftwing social media giants, who in concert with Amazon conspired to take down the site by having Amazon web services cancel the contract to host Parler on their servers.
That attack took down Parler in less than 24 hours and is now being litigated on anti-trust grounds, among other claims by the free speech company.
Undaunted, Parler announced it would come back on another server service, and after almost a month the free speech app is back – and without the Leftwing content moderation features demanded by the Tech Oligarchs.
According to TechCrunch, right before the attack by the Left, Parler was the number one app in Apple’s app store and Gab, another conservative-backed service, claimed that it was seeing an explosion in the number of signups to its web-based platform as well.
Parler saw approximately 210,000 installs globally on Friday 1/8, up 281% from approximately 55,000 on 1/7, according to data from the analytics service Sensor Tower. “In the U.S., the app saw approximately 182,000 first-time downloads on 1/8, up 355% from about 40,000 installs on 1/7. Since Wednesday, the app has seen approximately 268,000 installs from across U.S. app stores,” a press rep from Sensor Tower wrote in an email reported by TechCrunch.
TechCrunch reported users like Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo and the conservative talk show host Dan Bongino, a wildly popular figure on Facebook who is also an investor in Parler, have joined the platform. In the Journal article Bongino called the company “a collective middle finger to the tech tyrants.”

Accept the terms of service
Enter your new account information and click the “next” button
After you enter your account information and click the “next” button you may get a Captcha screen to make sure you are not a bot. If you want pictures, backgrounds and a bio or sales pitch on your profile page you can create that immediately or set it up after you’ve explored the site and seen what your friends or other high visibility users are doing. Parler works differently than Twitter or Facebook, so plan on a little learning curve to figure out how best to present your content and ideas and then start building your audience.
