In his 1948 essay “The Devil” the great Whittaker Chambers, who as a former Communist knew Marxism and all its devilish promises well, observed that for thousands and thousands of years of tempting stubborn saints and seducing all too willing mortals, Hell had tried to destroy man by seducing him to evil. The Devil’s revolutionary strategy for the modern age, concluded Mr. Chambers, was to destroy man by seducing him through good.
And so, we see the great “isms” of the modern age; communism, Nazism, fascism, anarchism, atheism all cloaked in the claim that they represent “progress” and through them mankind will reach a state of perfection through his own efforts without relying upon God for salvation.
Of course, the “smart people” who are the opinion leaders in politics, culture, academia and modern theology are contemptuous of those of us who have yet to succumb to the Devil’s cleverest wile, and who are prepared to consider that these isms are demonic in origin and that the validity of our conclusion is demonstrable through the words and actions of their present adherents, through observation, and through the testimony of witnesses.
An English guest at a pre-war Nazi Party rally in Berlin recalled in his memoirs that he had observed what appeared to be flashes of blue lightening escaping from Hitler’s body, and concluded that at certain moments Hitler was actually possessed of the Devil.[i]
The Nazism of Adolph Hitler specifically rejected Christianity and sought to exterminate the Jewish race and with them the one God of the Jews. As a replacement for the Cross and Christianity the Nazis created the German Faith Movement under the banner of the Sonnenrad, or sun wheel, one of the same symbols used by Satanists today, and that we see in evidence at many of the violent “protests” that claim to be for social justice.
Professor Paul Kengor, in his recently released book The Devil and Karl Marx documented the numerous instances in which the author of The Communist Manifesto was referred to by friends and family members as being “governed by demons” (his father), “monster of ten thousand devils” (co-author and financial patron Friedrich Engels) and possessing eyes “like a wet goblin” (friend Karl Heinzen).
Marx himself embraced the Devil, writing in an 1837 poem (yes, Marx also wrote “poetry”), “Thus Heaven I’ve forfeited, I know full well… My soul, once so true to God, is chosen for Hell.” In another poem, quoted by Dr. Kengor, Marx wrote, “The hellish vapors rise and fill the brain, Till I go mad and my heart is utterly changed. See the sword – the Prince of Darkness sold it to me.”
And Friedrich Engels, Marx’s co-author and long-time financial patron found himself inexplicably drawn to Marx. Before he met Karl Marx Engels wrote[ii] about a “black” ominous force in his future:
Who chases after his tracks [Engels’s tracks] with reckless rage. A black man from Trier [Marx’s hometown], a remarkable monster, He neither walks nor hops, but springs upon his heels And stretches high his arms into the air in anger As though his wrath would seize at once The mighty canopy of Heaven and tear it to the Earth, With clenched and threatening fist he rages without rest, As though ten thousand devils had seized him by the hair.
Prof. Kengor explained, at the time Engels was struggling with his Christian faith. Karl Marx had the power to draw Engels, and later millions, to him; when Engels needed a man of Christ, he was strangely drawn to an Anti-Christ.
Contemporary with Marx and Engels was the best-known proponent of another of the Devilish “isms.” Michail Bakunin, the most well-known articulator of anarchism – under which banner the murderous arsonists of today’s ANTIFA movement march, burn and kill.
We would say Bakunin was the “founder” of anarchism, but it is difficult to ascribe foundational leadership to a movement devoid of structure and dedicated to the destruction of all of society’s hierarchy and institutions.
Bakunin was perhaps the first to publish evidence of what Whittaker Chambers described as Satan’s change in tactics.
In his work God and the State Bakunin describes Satan, as “the eternal rebel, the first freethinker and the emancipator of worlds. He makes man ashamed of his bestial ignorance and obedience; he emancipates him, stamps upon his brow the seal of liberty and humanity, in urging him to disobey and eat of the fruit of knowledge.”
And later: “God admitted that Satan was right; he recognized that the devil did not deceive Adam and Eve in promising them knowledge and liberty as a reward for the act of disobedience which he bad induced them to commit; for, immediately they had eaten of the forbidden fruit, God himself said (see Bible): “Behold, man is become as of the Gods, knowing both good and evil; prevent him, therefore, from eating of the fruit of eternal life, lest he become immortal like Ourselves.”
In what was his most important, but perhaps least known work, The Revolutionary Catechism, Bakunin declared churches “exist merely to negate morality and liberty and to profit from the lucrative practice of witchcraft.”
The Black Light Catechism, a group of individualist based Anarcho-Satanists in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts, who follow the tenets of Michail Bakunin, stated Bakunin’s view of Satan this way:
Satan is the embodiment of those forces which lead to progress and human ascent by upsetting the static order. Thus we see the rationale for Bakunin's championing of Satan, for he is the proto-Anarchist.
That is perhaps the clearest statement demonstrating the truth of Whittaker Chambers’ observation that Satan has changed tactics and instead of seducing humankind away from God through evil he is converting them through “good” or claims that rejecting God leads to “progress and human ascent.”

Beside their own words on Facebook and elsewhere we have the testimony of a witness to the demonic nature of today’s Far Left displayed during the September 26, 2020 National Prayer March led by Rev. Franklin Graham in Washington, DC.
The march stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol on Capitol Hill. As our witness was making her way to the march, she encountered a group of BLM and ANTIFA “protesters” who started yelling obscenities. When they saw the wall of Christians making their way to the Prayer March, the one with the bullhorn shouted, "Don't let them touch you! Don't let them pray for you!" and they all began running away up the hill.
It reminded her, said our witness, of the story in the Gospels (Mark 5:1-20, Luke 8:26-39 and Matthew 8:28-34) of Jesus casting an “unclean spirit” or demon out of a man into a herd of pigs, which then rushed down a hill into the lake and drowned.
What is interesting about the testimony of this witness is that the “protesters” feared the gathering of Christians might touch them or pray for them. But why would a group of violent Leftists fear being touched or prayed for by peaceful Christians?
One answer worth considering is that the demons who possessed and motivated Hitler, Marx and Bakunin, who hide behind the pursuit of Satan’s perversion of good or “progress and human ascent” also possess and motivate their followers in BLM and ANTIFA – and they, like the unclean spirit cast into the pigs, fear the power of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 10:7-8 “…proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.”
Luke 10:17-19 “The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
