The Leftwing media and the so-called “sensible people” who write for the local opinion
pages and seem to be the leading voices at many civic clubs and other centers of public life, can’t seem to understand why President Trump’s conservative – populist coalition has no inclination to throw-in the towel on the 2020 presidential election.
“Get over it, Trump lost,” seems to dominate the newspapers, networks, social media and even many local community chatrooms.
The outrage that many if not most conservatives feel about the past four years and the blatant fraud in the conduct of the 2020 presidential election is often hard to put into words – at least of more than four letters – but Newt Gingrich summed up our feelings in a post on his Gingrich360.com website.
Said the former Speaker of the House: “I realized my anger and fear were not narrowly focused on votes. My unwillingness to relax and accept that the election was over grew out of a level of outrage and alienation unlike anything I had experienced in more than 60 years involvement in public affairs.”
And he continued:
My world is the populist rebellion which believes we are being destroyed, our liberties are being cancelled, and our religions are under assault. (Note the new Human Rights Campaign to decertify any religious school which does not accept secular sexual values – and that many Democrat governors have kept casinos open while closing churches though the COVID-19 pandemic.) We also believe other Democrat-led COVID-19 policies have enriched the wealthy while crushing middle class small business owners (some 160,000 restaurants may close).
Newt’s point, which helped clarify our own thinking is, this isn’t about who holds a particular office, it is about the cultural and economic issues in play that are the basis of our outrage.
That Donald Trump might be cheated out of his election to a second term is an outrageous assault on constitutional government, but that the fraudulent election is likely to lead to the continued consolidation of the wealth and power of a ruthless Leftwing oligarchy is what sparks the white anger of many in the MAGA conservative movement.
And that white hot anger is coalescing into something bigger than people holding up “Trump won signs.”
As Newt explained:
Given this environment, I have no interest in legitimizing the father of a son who Chinese Communist Party members boast about buying. Nor do I have any interest in pretending that the current result is legitimate or honorable. It is simply the final stroke of a four-year establishment-media power grab. It has been perpetrated by people who have broken the law, cheated the country of information, and smeared those of us who believe in America over China, history over revisionism, and the liberal ideal of free expression over cancel culture.
A month from now Joe Biden may or may not be inaugurated President of the United States, but one thing is certain – if he governs from the Left, as he most likely will be forced to do – the rebellion on the MAGA Right that is currently being expressed in sign-waving and rallies is going to get a lot hotter because the feeling of being cheated is hardening into a “never again” attitude that is fully capable of matching the ruthlessness of the Left.
