At some point sensible people have to stand up and say NO to the continued government
propagandizing of transgender ideology to younger and younger audiences. And the most effective way to say NO at the moment is to voice your opposition to the confirmation of Dr. Richard, now Rachel Levine as assistant secretary for health.
Dr. Levine you will recall is the corrupt Pennsylvania health official who moved his mother out of a nursing home before mandating nursing homes take COVID positive patients, thus saving her mother from the holocaust of the elderly she created.
That alone would be a solid justification for Republicans to vote NO on her nomination, but the fact that Levine has also been a very public advocate for transgender surgery and exploring the limits on surgical and hormone intervention – if there are any – is also germane to her confirmation.
But Senator and Doctor Rand Paul was the only Republican to even attempt to explore Levine’s views on that subject at her confirmation hearing.
“American culture is now normalizing the idea that minors can be given hormones,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Thursday. “Do you believe minors are capable of making such a life changing decision of changing one's sex?” Paul asked Levine.
In response, Levine dodged the question and disingenuously “thanked” Paul for his “interest” in the question of transgender medicine, calling it “a very complex and nuanced field with robust research and standards of care that have been developed” by pediatricians.
“If I’m fortunate enough to be confirmed, I will look forward to working with you and your office and coming to your office to discuss the particulars of the standards of care for transgender medicine,” Levine said.
Paul followed up: "The specific question was about minors. Let's be a little more specific, since you evaded the question.
Dr. Paul repeated his question of whether Levine supported access to hormone blockers and “reconstruction of genitalia” for minors, before relaying the story of Keira Bell, a British citizen who was assigned female at birth before taking puberty blockers and supplemental testosterone as a teenager. Bell, who later de-transitioned when she was an adult, led a court case that effectively blocked transgender children under 16 from medical transition in the United Kingdom.
"Do you support the government intervening to override the parent's consent to give a child puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and/or amputation surgery of breasts and genitalia? You have said that you're willing to accelerate the protocols for street kids,” asked Dr. Paul. "I'm alarmed that poor kids with no parents who are homeless and distraught -- you would just go through this and allow this to happen to a minor."
“I’m alarmed that you’re not saying they should be prevented from making decisions to amputate their breasts or genitalia,” Dr. Paul said. “We have always said that minors do not have full rights—will you make a more firm decision on whether or not minors should be involved in these decisions?”
As CNS News reported, Dr. Paul further noted that for most of the history of medicine, minors couldn't even get a cut sewn up in the emergency room without parental permission. "But you're willing to let a minor take things that prevent their puberty. Do you think they get that back?” Paul asked.
Paul also noted that the drugs being used in gender transition are being used off-label. “I find it ironic that the left that went nuts over hydroxychloroquine being used possibly for COVID are not alarmed that these hormones are being used off label.
“There's no long-term studies. We don't know what happens to them. We do know that there are dozens and dozens of people who have been through this who regret that this happened, that a permanent change happened to them.”
"We should be outraged that someone is talking to a three-year-old about changing their sex!" said Dr. Paul, who then asked that the record to show that Levine had refused to answer his question.
According to leading experts, human ‘sex change’ is biologically impossible. Gender is identified at birth, not assigned, and every person’s gender-determining DNA chromosomes exist in every cell of his or her body.
“Transgenderism” itself is rare and frequently pathological, as it is associated with high suicide rates and other psychological dysfunctions. Some young people, however, are vulnerable to both “body dysmorphia” and to related conditions. By turning these vulnerabilities into a right to choose one’s own “gender,” at an increasingly early age the advocates of transgenderism pose a significant danger to the health and safety of the people they propose to help.
There might be some sort of libertarian argument for adults being free to mutilate themselves through transgender surgery. However, the idea that a three-year-old child or a thirteen-year-old adolescent has the right to decide anything, let alone life-changing medical procedures is monstrous. Anyone, such as Dr. Levine, who refuses to set an age floor for gender reassignment intervention has no business in high government office.
